For the love of 'off cuts'

The good and bad aspect to woodworking is off cuts. The bad is that you want to finish a project with zero waste and unfortunately that is an impossibility. So where to from here? I have a lovely fire pit in my backyard, but the idea of condemning this beautiful resource to a fiery end doesn't sit well with me.

The other option is what gives 'off cuts' their magic. A quick rummage through the off cut bin will always identify many scrap pieces that together will create stunning smaller items. Small projects are great to have a break from labouring under the weight of heavy timber slabs and let the imagination have fun with different and quirky items.

I have just released the first of many small projects. I'm offering the mobile phones in our lives a lift with handy stands which will look perfect on any desk, kitchen bench, bed side table etc. I've also incorporated an antique style caddy tray with one of the stands so that your mobile phone can hang out with your watch and wallet on the dresser.

As with all my recent projects, these too are made from the wonderfull recycled bar top I've been chipping away at for the last few months.

I would like to wish all my loyal followers and customers the very best for the new year and I hope that 2026 will be super for all.
